Local Sponsorship
UAE local service agent or sponsor arrangements where required.
A few mainland activities still need a UAE national as local service agent or sponsor. We explain when this is required, the difference between a service agent and a shareholder, and put a clear written arrangement in place so control and fees are documented.
What you get
- Advice on whether sponsorship is actually required

The local party is added to the licence file in the correct legal role.

Questions
Do all mainland companies need a local sponsor?
No. Most activities now allow 100% foreign ownership. Sponsorship is limited to specific professional or regulated categories.
Is a local service agent a shareholder?
Usually not. A local service agent helps with government dealings and does not take ownership. A sponsor-shareholder is a different structure. We use the one the law actually requires.
